Darren Prenger moves into COO role for growing tech talent firm

Kansas City, MO – ECCO Select, a talent acquisition + advisory consulting company based in Kansas City, has named Darren Prenger as its new chief operating officer, effective Jan. 4, 2017.

The son of ECCO founder and CEO Jeanette Hernandez Prenger, Darren Prenger was only in high school when his mother founded the company in 1995, but after graduating college – and after stints at H&R Block and Cerner in IT roles – he became a recruiter at ECCO. Over the next 11 years, he worked his way through the positions of recruiting manager, senior recruiter, director of business development, and vice president of commercial sector and strategic development, before landing at his previous role of chief revenue officer.

“I’m so proud of Darren,” said Jeanette Prenger. “He watched the business evolve, has worked his way from the ground up, and the time is right as we celebrate 21 years in business for him to lead the next generation.”

Darren’s demonstrated track record of leading and growing business units includes rebuilding ECCO’s business development efforts as well as the recruitment and federal teams to position the company for exponential growth over the next few years. Since its $1.04 million headquarters expansion in 2014, ECCO has nearly doubled its number of full-time employees, and its annual revenue continues to grow substantially each year. Its 111-percent revenue growth in 2016 earned the company a spot on Ingram’s annual 100 Fastest Growing Companies list for a third consecutive year.

Darren had a personal hand in this progress in his previous position by leading initiatives that achieved a 400-percent increase in revenue. As he assumes his new role, he hopes to continue to guide the company down the path of growth that his mother has paved since launching the company.
