Position Title: System Administrator III
Location Information
St. Louis, MO (Onsite)
Position Responsibilities:
The System Administrator III is responsible for advanced engineering, system integration, and high-level administrative support within secure environments. This position will focus on building, designing, and maintaining complex, enterprise-grade infrastructure with an emphasis on stability, security, and automation. You will be a technical leader, independently driving initiatives to enhance system capabilities and operational efficiency through process improvement and customer engagement.
- Research, develop, and implement infrastructure tools and robust technical solutions to meet evolving enterprise needs.
- Lead the creation and optimization of new processes to enhance both operational and project efficiency.
- Maintain, update, and ensure the smooth functioning of applications and infrastructure.
- Provide technical recommendations on hardware architecture and enterprise software toolsets.
- Manage multiple license server implementations and associated administration tasks.
- Create, support, and maintain Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) systems; provide expert consulting on PKI solutions for customer needs.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with end-users, customers, vendors, and subject matter experts.
- Ensure compliance with customer standards and industry best practices through documentation and system configuration.
- Lead deep-dive root-cause analysis, failure simulations, and troubleshooting of advanced technical issues impacting systems and applications.
- Communicate and present effective solutions to complex technical issues, weighing business and operational impacts.
- Participate in team meetings, offering technical insight and fostering consensus among stakeholders.
- Serve as a rapid escalation point and maintain readiness to address urgent critical issues impacting services.
- Support and maintain physical hardware in secure lab or closed area environments as assigned.
- Install, configure, and support highly integrated and mission-critical applications across platforms.
- Develop, follow, and review process documentation to ensure procedural accuracy and completeness.
- Troubleshoot application, system, and integration issues with a focus on reducing incidents and delivering sustainable solutions.
- Account creation and support for Active Directory, VPN, and remote access, including secure Group Policy deployments.
- Implement, maintain, and troubleshoot mandated secure Group Policy Objects and solutions required for compliance.
- Perform system backups, restorations, and ensure contingencies are in place to maintain system integrity.
Essential Skills, Experience
- Active DoD SCI Clearance required prior to start.
- CompTIA Security+ CE certification required prior to start.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience integrating, administering, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise technologies in a highly secure environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency supporting both Windows and Linux enterprise environments, including:
- Extensive experience administering Windows Server 2019+ and Windows 10+ environments.
- Strong experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8+, with RHEL 9 considered a strong plus.
- Hands-on expertise with VMware ESXi 7.0+ cluster-level engineering, including vCenter management, resource pools, high-availability/DRS policies, and performance optimization.
- Advanced experience managing Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and troubleshooting related issues.
- Experience with enterprise-level patching and compliance using WSUS and SCCM.
- Administration of PKI environments and license servers.
- Demonstrated ability to perform deep root-cause analysis and deliver resolutions to complex technical problems.
- Process development and documentation skills for continually improving operational workflows.
- Exceptional communication abilities, with an emphasis on customer-facing interactions and cross-functional teamwork.
- Strong self-direction; able to work independently and effectively in fast-paced, continually evolving settings.
- Required automation experience, with scripting proficiency in:
- PowerShell
- Bash
- Python (preferred)
Qualifications:
- Experience with HP and Dell hardware platforms.
- Familiarity with compliance tools and standards, including SCAP/STIG, EvaluateSTIG, and configuration compliance processes.
- Knowledge of server-based antivirus, data-at-rest encryption, vulnerability assessment (e.g., Nessus), and logging platforms (e.g., Splunk).
- Hands-on experience with SAN administration, Networker, and technical documentation (writing and editing).
- Advanced use of Ansible, DevOps automation pipelines, and SCCM.
- Exposure to Microsoft System Center Service Manager (SCSM) is advantageous.
