Position Title:     Senior Appian Administrator 

Location Information  Remote

 

Position Responsibilities:

As a Senior Appian Administrator, you will play a key role in the stability, security, and performance of our Appian platform. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the Appian environment, providing technical expertise, resolving support issues, and ensuring our platform and user management processes are running effectively and securely. Your work will focus on platform maintenance, deployment management, monitoring, performance, and continuous improvement of our support and security practices.

  • Platform Maintenance: Install, patch, and upgrade Appian software systems, including application servers such as JBoss or Tomcat to ensure the platform is always up-to-date and secure.
  • Deployment Management: Build and manage CI/CD automation (using Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps) to streamline application packaging and deployment across multiple environments.
  • Monitoring & Performance: Continuously monitor system logs, health, and performance metrics, and proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to ensure high system availability.
  • Security & User Management: Oversee user provisioning, implement and manage role-based access controls, and integrate with authentication systems such as LDAP and SSO to maintain a secure application environment.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including runbooks and standard operating procedures for operational transparency and knowledge sharing.
  • Support and Troubleshooting: Address and resolve application support issues, collaborating with internal teams to optimize processes, account management, and mitigate security risks.

 

Essential Skills, Experience


  • Appian Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Appian architecture, installation, and administration best practices, with 5-8 years of experience in Appian platform administration.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with both Linux and Windows server administration, as well as database management (specifically PostgreSQL).
  • DevOps Tools: Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps).
  • User & Security Management: Skilled in user provisioning, managing access controls, and integrating authentication/authorization frameworks including LDAP and SSO.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills for both application and platform issues, with the ability to analyze logs and metrics to identify and resolve problems effectively.
  • Documentation: Ability to create and maintain detailed systems documentation, including operational runbooks, setup guides, and deployment procedures.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a customer-focused mindset and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.

Minimum Required Experience: 5-8 years in Appian Administration or a similar enterprise application platform management role.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • Appian Certified Senior Developer
    • Appian Certified Lead Developer
    • Cloud Certification (such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator)
  • Industry Experience: Previous experience as a consultant or with corporate level Appian support strongly preferred.
