Position Title: Data Analyst (Healthcare Eligibility Data)

Position Responsibilities:
As a Data Analyst specializing in healthcare eligibility data, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and operational utility of data that drives critical business processes. You will analyze, validate, and map raw healthcare data from a variety of sources, develop robust reporting solutions, and collaborate with diverse cross-functional teams. Your work will impact how healthcare eligibility information is leveraged for operational excellence, compliance, and business insight.
- Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze, validate, and compare healthcare eligibility data from multiple sources, including hospital facility records, EDI files, and enrollment systems.
- Design, write, and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts to extract, transform, and interpret data.
- Produce recurring and ad-hoc reports addressing membership, eligibility status, enrollment trends, attribution, and data quality metrics.
- Investigate data anomalies and discrepancies, performing root-cause analysis and recommending corrective actions.
- Data Management & Integrity:
- Maintain data accuracy and completeness across multiple eligibility datasets.
- Work closely with data engineers to enhance data pipelines, file processing jobs, and relational database performance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with teams across operations, IT, revenue cycle, and compliance to ensure eligibility data supports end-to-end business workflows.
- Translate business questions into analytical and reporting requirements, providing clear and actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Ensure all data activities adhere to HIPAA, PHI, and internal security and privacy requirements.
- Documentation:
- Develop and maintain documentation for eligibility data structures, flows, and SQL processes.
- Create user-friendly definitions and explanations of eligibility fields and metrics, making complex concepts accessible for non-technical audiences.
Essential Skills, Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience working with healthcare eligibility, enrollment, or membership data.
- Advanced expertise in PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), including T-SQL scripting, query optimization, joins, indexing, and stored procedures.
- Experience with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) healthcare file formats such as 270/271, 835, or payer roster files.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze large and complex datasets, identifying patterns, trends, and data quality issues.
- Prior experience in HIPAA-regulated environments with handling of Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and a commitment to data accuracy and compliance.
- Able to work independently while managing multiple projects and shifting priorities.
- Solid documentation skills to support technical and business users.
Qualifications:
- Experience with ETL and data pipeline tools, such as Matillion ETL, SSMS/SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Informatica, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with Snowflake and Databricks environments is a plus.
- Understanding of healthcare payer systems, provider networks, ACO/IPA structures, or value-based care models.
- Knowledge of relational database design, normalization principles, and performance tuning techniques.
- Experience with data visualization tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or equivalent.
