Position Title:     Senior Network Engineer

Location Information 

Onsite – Portland, OR

Position Responsibilities:

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting enterprise network engineering initiatives in a large, distributed environment. This is an advanced engineering position focused on both campus and data center networks. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Providing hands-on engineering support for enterprise campus and data center networks, including network lifecycle refreshes, infrastructure upgrades, and new site or office builds.
• Designing, implementing, and troubleshooting routing and switching solutions within Cisco-based environments.
• Supporting and maintaining wireless networking solutions, ensuring high availability and resolving complex connectivity or performance issues.
• Working with network identity and access technologies, including Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), to ensure secure and appropriate network access.
• Contributing to data center networking initiatives, leveraging exposure to technologies such as Cisco ACI and virtualized networking platforms.
• Assisting with network monitoring and operational tooling, utilizing platforms for enhanced visibility, alerting, and performance analysis.
• Providing expert support for one-off and non-standard engineering requests, applying strong troubleshooting and analytical expertise to resolve unique challenges.
• Acting as a technical leader and escalation point, guiding junior engineers and contractors, and helping to build and strengthen overall team capability.

Essential Skills, Experience

• Extensive hands-on experience working in enterprise routing and switching environments, with a deep understanding of Cisco networking technologies.
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting network solutions, including campus LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
• Strong expertise supporting both project-based work (such as infrastructure upgrades or office builds) and ongoing operational network maintenance.
• Demonstrated capability to work independently and contribute at a senior or lead engineer level, offering guidance and technical direction as needed.
• Experience supporting modern enterprise wireless networking solutions, including resolving complex connectivity and performance issues.
• Hands-on knowledge of network identity and access control systems (e.g., Cisco ISE).
• Familiarity with data center networking, virtualization, and exposure to platforms such as Cisco ACI or similar technologies.
• Ability to serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues, mentor junior staff, and drive improvements in team processes.
• Familiarity with network monitoring, visibility, and operational tooling to ensure optimal network performance and quick incident response.

Qualifications:

• CCNP certification or equivalent work experience is required; CCIE level skills or certification are strongly preferred.
• Experience with Cisco ACI and modern data center networking architectures is highly desirable.
• Broad knowledge of legacy and evolving data center technologies, including virtualization and hybrid networking concepts.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to operate both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
