Position Title:   Senior Network Engineer

Location Information

Austin, TX | Full-time onsite | 40 hours per week | 6-month initial contract

Position Responsibilities:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to take a leadership role in the ground-up deployment and management of complex network infrastructure across multiple sites in Austin, TX. The ideal candidate is adept at independently implementing, operating, and optimizing network solutions, and is comfortable driving multiple concurrent projects. You will collaborate within a team of senior and junior engineers, play an instrumental part in ongoing operations, and ensure the reliability and performance of all deployed network systems.

Key duties will include:

• Lead the end-to-end deployment of siloed network infrastructure from planning to implementation and optimization.
• Provision, configure, and maintain network equipment for optimal resiliency and performance.
• Collaborate with a team of 5 engineers (comprised of both senior and junior personnel) for day-to-day support, troubleshooting, and project delivery.
• Design, document, and implement robust network solutions, ensuring seamless functionality and integration among systems.
• Work closely with specialized security engineers for SDWAN and firewall setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Adapt to flexible working hours to support early morning or late evening maintenance windows (approximately twice per month).
• Participate in operational support and continuous improvement initiatives for the network environment.
• Regularly travel between local sites around Austin (no mileage reimbursement, proximity-based).
• Follow a two-round interview process: initial introduction with a hiring manager and a final round with technical team members.

Essential Skills, Experience

To excel in this role, you must demonstrate the following: 

• Extensive hands-on experience with ground-up network deployments in both data center and IDF environments.
• Operational expertise in provisioning and managing Juniper, Palo Alto, and Meraki network equipment.
• Strong technical proficiency in network architecture, design, and advanced troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and deliver in a fast-paced, multi-project environment with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively within technical teams and cross-functionally.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities and the demands of on-call or after-hours support requirements.
• Previous involvement with SDWAN and firewall solutions, including active engagement with security teams.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5+ years in a senior network engineering role, specifically in large-scale deployments.
• Direct experience with Juniper networking solutions is highly preferred.
• Relevant certifications (CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent) are a significant advantage.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable local transportation for on-site work at multiple Austin locations.
