Position Responsibilities:

Are you an experienced data engineer who wants to design, build, and optimize modern data platforms? We are seeking a Sr. Data Engineer to join our collaborative team in a contract-to-hire opportunity, working on a hybrid schedule in either Dallas or Atlanta.

In this role, you'll be responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable data pipelines and operating within a Snowflake data platform hosted on AWS. You'll partner with business and technology stakeholders—including data analysts, BI developers, application engineers, and other business units—to make reliable, trusted, and analytics-ready data available across the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and building batch and near-real-time data pipelines using AWS services, such as S3, Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions.
  • Developing and maintaining Snowflake data models spanning raw, staging, and reporting layers to support analytics and business reporting needs.
  • Loading and transforming data in Snowflake utilizing Snowpipe, Streams and Tasks, and external stages.
  • Integrating data from internal applications, SaaS platforms, and third-party sources through APIs and file-based feeds.
  • Optimizing Snowflake performance and costs via warehouse sizing, query optimization, and monitoring usage patterns.
  • Implementing data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting processes to proactively identify and resolve pipeline failures or data quality issues.
  • Applying data security and governance standards, including role-based access controls and data masking.
  • Collaborating with application development teams on .NET-based systems, supporting data sourcing and building integrated solutions.
  • Documenting data flows, models, and pipeline processes as well as engaging in code reviews to ensure best practices.

Essential Skills, Experience

  • 5-7+ years of data engineering experience with proven results in designing, building, and maintaining complex data pipelines.
  • Strong, hands-on expertise working with Snowflake, including data modeling, advanced SQL development, and performance tuning.
  • Production experience using AWS data services (S3, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions) to build and support scalable data solutions.
  • Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts, such as dimensional modeling and ELT patterns.
  • Competence with advanced SQL; able to write optimized, maintainable, and scalable queries.
  • Ability to read, support, and build data integrations with .NET applications (familiarity with C#/.NET).
  • Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD best practices for data engineering pipelines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate closely with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications that will help you stand out include:

  • Experience with dbt, Python, or Airflow for data pipeline development and orchestration.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) that consume data from Snowflake.
  • Background in events, hospitality, or customer engagement data.
  • Relevant professional certifications (SnowPro Core or AWS Data Engineer Associate).
