Position Title:     Java Full Stack Engineer (Senior Level)

Location Information  

Remote – Kansas City, MO

Position Responsibilities:

As a Senior Java Full Stack Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing both new and existing software solutions. You will be responsible for end-to-end delivery, including backend and frontend development, and will work across both modern and legacy codebases. Your day-to-day will involve crafting robust server-side logic, building user interfaces with Angular, optimizing data access and performance, and ensuring application stability and security by adhering to best practices in software quality and dependency management.

Essential Skills, Experience

• Senior-level experience as a full-stack engineer, with proven ability to work independently and within collaborative teams.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Java, with strong proficiency in Java 8 and ideally newer versions such as Java 17+.
• Advanced backend development using Spring Boot and JPA for persistence.
• Expertise in developing Single-Page Applications (SPA) using Angular (TypeScript), along with strong skills in HTML and CSS.
• Strong SQL expertise, including deep understanding of database design, relationships, indices, Common Table Expressions (CTEs), transaction management, connection pooling, and query performance optimization.
• Disciplined approach to managing software dependencies and remediating Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs), and comfort working under security and quality assurance gates (including tools like Nexus IQ and SonarQube).
• Flexible and adaptable, with experience transitioning between legacy and modern codebases.
• Experience using AI tools for development in a responsible and safe manner, with careful validation of output and an ownership mentality regarding delivered work quality.

Preferred Skills:

• Recent experience with new application development projects.
• Proficiency with GitLab for version control and collaboration.
• Knowledge of IntelliJ IDEA as a primary development environment.
• Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices using JUnit.
• Familiarity with Java build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting and debugging skills, with a depth of experience resolving complex technical issues.

Useful Experience:

• Background in insurance or financial regulatory data domains.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, especially using GitLab CI.
• Exposure to Agile or SAFe methodologies within a software development lifecycle.
