Position Title:   Software Quality Engineer

Location Information Remote

 

Position Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Software Quality Engineer to drive quality engineering practices for our organization. This role operates strategically and hands-on, working closely with engineering, product, and QA teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and reliable software solutions.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Quality Strategy & Leadership
    • Define and implement quality engineering strategies across multiple teams and projects.
    • Establish and promote standardized best practices and scalable testing methods.
    • Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to embed quality early in the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Test Automation & Framework Design
    • Design, develop, and scale automation frameworks using Karate or Rest Assured.
    • Build and maintain comprehensive API and UI automated test suites, utilizing Playwright for UI automation.
    • Ensure automation frameworks are seamlessly integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
  • API, Microservices & Integration Testing
    • Lead comprehensive testing efforts for distributed and microservices-based architectures.
    • Validate REST/JSON/XML APIs, including authentication mechanisms (OAuth/JWT), and key integrations.
    • Support test strategy for mocking and validating asynchronous systems.
  • Performance Engineering
    • Design and execute performance test scenarios using JMeter and BlazeMeter.
    • Analyze system metrics like latency, throughput, and error rates.
    • Identify bottlenecks and provide actionable recommendations for optimization and improved performance.
  • Data & Backend Validation
    • Perform thorough data validation across UI, API, and database layers.
    • Write, execute, and optimize complex SQL queries (Oracle preferred).
    • Ensure data accuracy, reliability, and integrity across integrated systems.
  • Manual & Exploratory Testing
    • Conduct risk-based and exploratory testing for complex workflows and edge cases.
    • Ensure robust defect detection, documentation, and reporting of software issues.
  • DevOps & Continuous Integration
    • Integrate and maintain automated testing processes within CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins).
    • Support quality engineering across multiple environments and deployment stages.
  • Mentorship & Collaboration
    • Mentor fellow QA engineers and contribute to elevating team-wide testing capabilities.
    • Serve as a technical leader and advocate for quality best practices across scrum teams.
    • Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release readiness activities.

 

Essential Skills, Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in software quality engineering, with exposure to senior or staff-level responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience driving quality strategy and improvement across engineering teams.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in:
  • Test automation frameworks such as Karate or Rest Assured.
  • UI automation using Playwright.
  • Performance testing tools including JMeter and BlazeMeter.
  • Writing and optimizing SQL queries (Oracle database experience preferred).
  • Extensive experience in API and microservices testing, including REST API validation and authentication protocols.
  • Proven track record integrating automated tests with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combining technical insight with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, supporting cross-team collaboration and mentoring.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and practices.
