Position Responsibilities:

The AI Governance & Security Architect will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of foundational frameworks, standards, and strategies governing the safe, secure, and responsible deployment of AI technology across the enterprise. This strategic role focuses on architecture—not operational or security engineering—and requires significant collaboration with executive leadership, engineering, compliance, and risk teams to enable secure, innovation-friendly AI adoption.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing comprehensive enterprise AI governance strategies, policies, and standards.
  • Designing and establishing robust AI security guardrails protecting sensitive information.
  • Creating responsible AI policies that outline acceptable use, risk management, and compliance expectations for enterprise-wide AI activities.
  • Developing governance frameworks specifically for AI agents and autonomous AI capabilities.
  • Partnering closely with executive leadership to align AI initiatives with business goals, security needs, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborating across Information Security, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Architecture teams to define and standardize governance processes for AI technology adoption.
  • Evaluating new AI technologies and recommending governance and security controls to effectively mitigate organizational risk.
  • Defining and refining security standards for AI platforms, especially those operating in cloud environments (with particular focus on AWS).
  • Creating documentation, governance artifacts, reference architectures, and implementation guidance tailored to AI deployments.
  • Helping establish and maintain approval and review processes for new AI use cases and enterprise solutions.
  • Continuously updating governance policies in response to regulatory change, production learnings, and industry best practices.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to business leaders regarding AI governance, security, and responsible AI adoption strategies.

You will actively shape the organization’s approach to innovation and risk as AI is integrated into mission-critical systems.

Essential Skills, Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in information security, cloud security, security or enterprise architecture, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated expertise designing and deploying AI governance and security strategies in production enterprise environments—particularly for generative AI and AI agents.
  • Hands-on experience creating enterprise AI policies, standards, and responsible AI practices.
  • Ability to identify and proactively address AI-specific security risks, such as data protection, model security, prompt injection, data leakage, and misuse prevention.
  • Experience constructing governance models for AI agents and cloud-based AI platforms, with significant knowledge of AWS cloud security.
  • Proven collaborator, able to work directly with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders (including Information Security, Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with success communicating and influencing business and technical audiences at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong understanding of industry security frameworks (such as NIST, CIS, ISO 27001), and modern risk management practices.

Additional expertise in the following is highly valued:

  • Enterprise AI governance program development from the ground up
  • Implementation experience with governance for Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • Building AI guardrails and enterprise control frameworks
  • Multi-cloud security exposure (Azure, Oracle Cloud, GCP)
  • Background in financial services or highly regulated industry environments
  • Familiarity with emerging AI governance standards and regulatory requirements

Technical focus areas include:

  • AI Security and Risk Management
  • Responsible AI and AI Policy Development
  • AI Agent Governance
  • Enterprise & Cloud (AWS) Security Architecture
  • Identity and Access Management
  • Data Protection
  • Documentation of governance artifacts and reference architectures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or a related discipline strongly preferred; advanced degree a plus.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, AWS Security Specialty, or equivalent are advantageous.
  • Proven track record establishing enterprise-wide security or governance programs for AI in regulated enterprise environments.
  • Professional demeanor, executive presence, and ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical leaders.
