Position Title: Senior Project Manager – AWS Cloud Migration
Location Information
Remote | 18-24 Month Contract
Position Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Manager to oversee the execution of a large-scale AWS cloud migration initiative. This role will be responsible for managing the migration process, ensuring seamless coordination between internal teams and external vendors, and providing consistent communication and governance throughout the migration lifecycle. The Senior Project Manager will proactively drive project execution, hold teams accountable, and remove roadblocks to ensure timely and successful delivery.
- Act as the main liaison between the AWS migration vendor and internal technology, application, development, infrastructure, and business teams.
- Drive day-to-day execution of AWS cloud migration activities by coordinating internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead Agile project ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, backlog reviews, and status meetings.
- Manage project workstreams using Scrum and Kanban methodologies to ensure achievement of delivery milestones.
- Develop and manage project schedules, track dependencies, monitor action items, and drive timely completion of deliverables.
- Maintain strong accountability among internal teams, business stakeholders, and vendor resources to deliver on assigned commitments.
- Proactively escalate issues, risks, delays, and resource gaps to maintain project momentum and resolve obstacles.
- Facilitate regular meetings with technical teams, application owners, executive leadership, and vendor partners, ensuring alignment and clear communication.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project status reports, dashboards, executive communications, and governance documentation.
- Track risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and develop mitigation or contingency plans as necessary.
- Monitor project budgets, timelines, and resource allocations to ensure delivery is on time and within budget.
- Manage work items, sprint boards, backlogs, and reporting using Azure DevOps.
- Identify and remove barriers to project success, enabling teams to focus on delivery.
- Ensure consistent communication across all stakeholder groups, keeping teams aligned on project goals and priorities.
Essential Skills, Experience
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 8+ years of project management experience overseeing complex enterprise technology initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience as Project Manager on at least one large-scale enterprise cloud migration project (AWS preferred).
- Expertise coordinating third-party vendors and internal technology teams throughout major transformation projects.
- Advanced understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban practices.
- Proven leadership of Agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Hands-on experience managing backlogs, sprints, and project governance using Azure DevOps.
- Exceptional project planning, risk management, issue management, and status reporting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive accountability and performance across cross-functional teams and at multiple organizational levels.
- Strong track record of managing projects to successful, on-time, and within-budget delivery.
- Excellent facilitation, written and verbal communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation abilities.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive in identifying and resolving project challenges, with a solution-focused and results-driven approach.
- Experience working with application development, infrastructure teams, and executive leadership stakeholders.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMI-ACP, or similar project management credentials are preferred.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required.
- Relevant industry certifications (PMP, CSM, PMI-ACP, etc.) are highly desirable.
