Position Title: Electrical Engineer – Power Engineering
Location Information
Kansas City metro area strongly preferred; fully remote within the U.S. will be considered.
Position Responsibilities:
As an Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Engineering, you will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of projects in power generation, delivery, and related industrial and infrastructure sectors across North America. You will work within multidisciplinary teams, helping to bring complex engineering initiatives from conceptualization through construction support and final commissioning. Depending on your experience, responsibilities may include the following:
- Develop and review electrical engineering designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications for power systems and infrastructure projects
- Prepare and review one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, equipment layouts, and system documentation
- Support power system studies, equipment selection, and the design of electrical distribution systems
- Coordinate actively with engineers from other disciplines, construction staff, and project managers
- Research, interpret, and apply relevant engineering codes, standards, and client requirements
- Participate in project planning, scheduling, and technical execution activities
- Support procurement processes, including development of equipment specifications, bid evaluations, and vendor coordination
- Use engineering and plant design software tools to create project deliverables
- Maintain thorough documentation, records, and technical reports
- Provide construction support and respond to field-related engineering questions as needed
- Senior-level engineers may lead technical teams, mentor junior staff, and oversee project deliverables
Essential Skills, Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is required
- We welcome candidates at all experience levels:
- Entry-Level: Internship, co-op, or academic project experience in power systems or a related field
- Mid-Level: Several years’ professional experience in electrical engineering design, especially in industrial, power, or infrastructure environments
- Senior-Level: Proven record in leading electrical engineering projects, managing technical deliverables, and mentoring teams
- Knowledge of power systems engineering principles and industry best practices
- Experience working with electrical design software and engineering tools
- Understanding of applicable electrical codes and standards
- Excellent analytical thinking, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment
- Experience supporting projects for EPC, utility, industrial, or infrastructure clients is preferred
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic project environment
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities are a must
- Ability to work in both office and project field settings
- Occasional overtime or travel may be necessary depending on project requirements
