Position Title:     Strategic Program Manager

Location Information  New York

 

Position Responsibilities:

The Strategic Program Manager leads and oversees large-scale, transformational initiatives, working collaboratively across multiple technical and global teams. The successful candidate will:

  • Define and implement governance frameworks and controls, including status reports, risk and issue management, stakeholder engagement routines, and more to ensure effective program oversight.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, driving complex issues to resolution and adapting to the evolving needs of service delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and manage program milestones, risks, decisions, and maintain up-to-date tracking and reporting at a program level.
  • Drive and facilitate decision-making processes to keep the program on track.
  • Collaborate with leadership and technical leads to effectively staff and allocate resources across the program.
  • Manage escalation and resolution of program-level issues, and proactively mitigate risks.
  • Oversee all aspects of program financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and meeting predefined financial objectives.
  • Ensure procurement processes and related reporting provide optimal visibility to stakeholders.
  • Define team roles and responsibilities in support of staffing strategies and program requirements.
  • Oversee end-to-end delivery and quality for the entire program, ensuring expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Drive thorough stakeholder engagement, fostering transparent communication and supporting effective decision-making at all organizational levels.
  • Create and deliver executive-level reporting, tailored to the needs of the program’s stakeholders.
  • Ensure all work aligns closely with the statement of work (SOW) and manage change as needed in partnership with organizational leadership.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on customer satisfaction, quality standards, and overall program profitability.
  • Direct, coach, and mentor assigned project managers and team members to promote optimal productivity and high-quality deliverables.
  • Set and communicate long-term goals for the program or project portfolio.
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding procedures for program resources, ensuring smooth transitions.
  • Act as an effective liaison between program staff and upper management or executives, ensuring clear communication and alignment to objectives.

 

Essential Skills, Experience


  • Proven leadership in managing large-scale technology programs with a minimum budget of $25MM or more.
  • Experienced in managing large, distributed teams consisting of at least 50 matrixed resources.
  • Exceptional presentation and public speaking capabilities.
  • Track record in developing and estimating client statements of work (SOW).
  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in program and project management roles.
  • At least 5 years of direct, hands-on program management experience, with 10 or more years in project management.
  • Extensive experience with financial customers or programs in the financial sector.
  • Previous exposure to sales, business development, and client relationship management is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing, tracking, and forecasting large-scale program financials and budgets.
  • Well-versed in program financial health reporting and program management of procurement visibility.
  • Strong understanding of contracts, including negotiating modifications and managing the impact on scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Good working knowledge of supply chain processes as they relate to program delivery.
  • Exceptional communication skills—written, verbal, and presentation.
  • Highly organized, able to work independently, and skilled at tracking and managing to aggressive program timelines.
  • Proficient with Salesforce CRM and reporting tools.
  • Strong coaching, mentoring, and team development abilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required (Arts/Sciences: BA/BS).
  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive related work experience required.
  • At least 5 years of active Program Management responsibility.
  • At least 10 years of Project Management experience.
  • Experience working with financial customers a strong advantage.
  • 1-3 years of sales or business development experience preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM software preferred.
  • Strong ability to manage, track, and forecast financials and budgets in large-scale programs.
  • Excellent understanding of contract processes and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with supply chain processes preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification through PMI is preferred.
