Position Title: Graphic Design Consultant
Location Information
Hybrid (Kansas City, MO) | Contract
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead the layout and design of the annual Insurance Department Resources Report (IDRR), including creative ideation for the cover and theme, overall report layout, and integrating feedback from multiple stakeholders through several rounds of revisions.
- Produce comprehensive design assets for major initiatives, such as digital and print booklets, media kits, branded materials, and other promotional or informational content as required.
- Support the broader design team by developing event-specific reports, presentations, and digital graphics to enhance both in-person and virtual engagements.
- Curate and select high-impact photography—both from stock libraries and existing internal archives—for presentations, publications, and web usage.
- Redesign and modernize current consumer resources, ensuring all updated materials reflect brand guidelines and contemporary design principles.
- Create corporate materials such as Microsoft Word letterheads and PowerPoint templates leveraged across the organization.
- Utilize Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) and relevant design tools for project execution.
- Deliver original visual assets—including logos, illustrations, icons, and infographics—to be used in a variety of formats and campaigns.
- Participate in team brainstorming sessions, contributing innovative ideas for design solutions and approaches.
- Prepare, present, and iterate on design drafts, incorporating feedback from internal teams or leadership as needed.
Essential Skills, Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field—or comparable professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience as a graphic designer with a robust portfolio showcasing a variety of projects in print and digital formats.
- Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word and PowerPoint).
- Thorough understanding of layout composition, typography, color theory, and effective branding strategies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate design rationale and incorporate constructive feedback.
- Excellent time management, capable of handling multiple priorities and project deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively across diverse teams.
Qualifications:
- Experience with UI/UX design concepts and tools is a plus.
- Basic familiarity with HTML/CSS for web-optimized design assets is advantageous.
- Animation or motion graphics capabilities are a strong asset.
