Position Title:     Senior NetScaler ADC Automation Engineer

Location Information  

Remote  |  6+ Month Contract

Position Responsibilities:

We are seeking a seasoned Senior NetScaler ADC Automation Engineer to join our team, focusing on designing, building, and maintaining automated frameworks for scalable, repeatable, and secure application delivery services. The primary responsibility will be to drive automation initiatives for Citrix NetScaler (ADC) environments, ensuring high performance, standardization, and streamlined deployments.

  • Design, architect, and implement automation solutions for Citrix NetScaler ADC environments using the NITRO API, Ansible, and Python.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code supporting secure, scalable, and repeatable application delivery service provisioning and management.
  • Lead automation projects aimed at eliminating manual configurations, improving deployment speed, and supporting organizational modernization of application delivery.
  • Create, manage, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for ADC automation workflows, ensuring quality and consistency in network deployments.
  • Collaborate effectively with network, security, DevOps, and application development teams to align automation initiatives with business needs and technical requirements.
  • Translate existing manual NetScaler configurations into robust, scalable automation templates and processes.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of technical standards, operational procedures, and best practices for automation and ADC management.
  • Provide technical leadership during discovery-driven engineering efforts, identifying opportunities for further modernization and efficiency gains.

 

Essential Skills, Experience

 

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience working with Citrix NetScaler ADC, with advanced knowledge of its features, architecture, and best practices in large-scale environments.
  • Extensive expertise automating NetScaler configurations utilizing the NITRO API for efficient, reliable management.
  • Deep proficiency in Ansible and related NetScaler collections/modules for configuration automation and orchestration.
  • Advanced programming experience in Python, particularly focused on RESTful integrations, data modeling, and templating (Jinja2).
  • Direct experience designing, implementing, and supporting CI/CD pipelines in network or ADC automation contexts.
  • Strong understanding of L4–L7 application delivery, including SSL/TLS termination, persistence mechanisms, health monitoring, and advanced traffic management strategies.
  • Solid hands-on experience with relevant data formats and tools: JSON, YAML, Jinja2, and Git workflows for version control and collaboration.

Preferred or Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience in mixed ADC environments, particularly with F5 BIG-IP (LTM, ASM).
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with NetScaler Responder and Rewrite policies.
  • Familiarity with automating NetScaler WAF (Web Application Firewall) configurations.
  • Background in large-scale ADC migration or standardization initiatives.
  • Understanding of certificate management automation and enterprise PKI workflows.

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to analyze and convert manual NetScaler configurations into automation-friendly processes and solutions.
  • Strong ownership of technical deliverables and comfort providing technical leadership, especially during discovery or proof-of-concept initiatives.
  • Effective communicator who can collaborate across diverse IT domains including network, security, DevOps, and applications.
