Position Title:     Middleware Engineer (.NET Applications)

Location Information  

Hybrid – Kansas City, MO

Position Responsibilities:

As a Middleware Engineer specializing in .NET applications, you will play a key role in supporting, maintaining, and optimizing middleware systems that enable critical business applications. You will collaborate closely with IT and business teams to deliver solutions that enhance the scalability, reliability, and performance of application infrastructure across Windows and Linux environments.

  • Collaborate with various IT departments to deploy and support application and infrastructure stacks for multiple business functions.
  • Maintain middleware systems by applying patches, break-fixes, and implementing enhancements to ensure security and reliability.
  • Automate deployment and infrastructure management tasks through tools such as Ansible, Urban Code Deploy, and custom scripting.
  • Coordinate with application development, systems, network, and security teams to ensure smooth operation and integration of middleware solutions.
  • Assist in the triage and troubleshooting of application issues across development, QA, and production environments to minimize downtime.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve the availability, reliability, and performance of application infrastructure by staying abreast of new technologies.
  • Provide technical leadership both within the middleware team and in cross-functional projects, driving best practices and innovative solutions.
  • Document all work thoroughly according to company, departmental, and team guidelines and policies.
  • Engage with external technology vendors for support, issue resolution, and optimization of middleware platforms.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation with other team members to ensure 24/7 support coverage.

 

Essential Skills, Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of experience in a technical role supporting n-Tier application infrastructure, or in lieu of degree, at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience supporting .NET applications.
  • Experience supporting and administering both UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of web and application servers, including Microsoft IIS, IBM WebSphere Application Server, IBM HTTP Server, and Apache Web Server.
  • Experience managing SSL certificates and related security practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and incidents simultaneously and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Advanced understanding of core Internet technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, SSL, HTTP).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Jython, Bash, and PowerShell to automate operational tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications or formal training in IT or related technologies (preferred but not required).
  • Experience with code development is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on familiarity with Ansible and Ansible Automation Platform is a plus.
  • Understanding of directory services such as Active Directory LDAP or eDirectory LDAP.
  • Experience with Single Sign-On (SSO) applications.
  • ITIL Foundations Certification is a plus.
