Position Title:     Senior Network Engineer

Location Information  

San Carlos, CA — Full-time onsite; 6-month initial contract; 40 hours per week. Some travel between local sites required.

Position Responsibilities:

The Senior Network Engineer will play a pivotal role in the deployment and ongoing support of network infrastructure across multiple business sites in San Carlos, CA. You will drive the ground-up development and scaling of siloed networks, collaborating closely with both senior and junior engineers. This is a hands-on position where working independently and efficiently managing concurrent projects is essential. Your day-to-day will include designing, provisioning, and configuring network infrastructure, implementing and integrating solutions with a focus on seamless functionality, and ensuring robust network performance and reliability. Cross-functional collaboration with security engineers—especially on SDWAN and Firewall technologies—is an integral part of this role. Flexible working hours are expected to accommodate critical downtime windows, which may include early mornings or late evenings approximately twice per month.

Essential Skills, Experience

• Extensive hands-on experience in deploying, configuring, and maintaining complex network infrastructure, including data centers and Intermediate Distribution Frames (IDFs).
• Proficiency with network equipment from Juniper, Palo Alto Networks, and Meraki—including initial provisioning, troubleshooting, upgrades, and performance optimization.
• Strong proficiency in designing ground-up enterprise network solutions, particularly within siloed network environments.
• Demonstrated expertise in network troubleshooting, performance tuning, and ensuring high availability and security of network operations.
• Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple concurrent projects.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills—comfortable collaborating within a cross-functional engineering team that includes both senior and junior colleagues.
• Experience collaborating with security teams and providing technical guidance with SDWAN and Firewall configurations.
• Flexibility to accommodate and adapt to critical network maintenance windows with occasional early morning or late evening work (typically twice a month).
• Ability to travel between multiple local sites as required (within the San Carlos area, mileage reimbursement is not offered due to proximity).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5+ years in a senior network engineering position with a focus on data center, campus, or enterprise network deployments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Juniper network equipment is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with SDWAN solutions and enterprise firewall technologies is an advantage.
