Position Title:   ACI Solution Delivery Engineer

Location Information 

Hybrid – Can sit in Charlotte, Raleigh, Plainfield, Cincinnati or St. Petersburg. Tuesday is a mandatory day onsite each week.

Position Responsibilities:

Join our team as an ACI Solution Delivery Engineer and play a key role in the successful deployment and operation of Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) within a large enterprise data center environment. This execution-focused position requires unwavering precision, operational discipline, and strict adherence to established architectural standards, configuration guidelines, and change management procedures. The successful candidate will excel at consuming documented designs and executing build activities as specified, ensuring full compliance with enterprise requirements.

 

  • Design Consumption and Translation
    • Interpret and execute pre-approved enterprise ACI design documentation precisely and without deviation.
    • Provision only those objects, constructs, and configuration patterns that are explicitly documented.
    • Apply both fixed and variable parameters with a high degree of accuracy using established build templates.
    • Maintain strict alignment with approved architectural standards and implementation guidelines at all times.
  • Fabric Build and Expansion
    • Conduct ACI fabric bring-up and expansion activities in strict accordance with enterprise standards.
    • Complete APIC initialization, fabric discovery, and node role assignment and validation.
    • Apply baseline fabric configuration for operational readiness, ensuring all defined checks for acceptance and validation are performed.
    • Monitor configuration consistency and stability in a shared, multi-tenant fabric environment.
  • Tenant, VRF, and Object Provisioning
    • Provision and accurately associate ACI constructs, including Tenants, VRFs, Bridge Domains, and Endpoint Groups (EPGs).
    • Strictly follow documented object hierarchies and respect all interdependencies between constructs.
    • Ensure compliance and consistency across complex, multi-tenant environments.
  • External Connectivity Delivery
    • Build and deploy Layer 3 Out (L3Out) configurations and External EPGs according to predefined enterprise patterns.
    • Deliver reliable, scalable routed connectivity to enterprise core/MPLS networks.
    • Rigorously validate routing, reachability, and policy outcomes against design documentation.
  • Automation and Tooling
    • Utilize Terraform as the primary method for provisioning configurations, managing variables and state as defined.
    • Consume approved Terraform modules and leverage APIs, JSON, and tools (such as Postman) for validation, troubleshooting, and controlled changes.
    • Avoid GUI-based configuration unless explicitly authorized; champion infrastructure-as-code and automation-first delivery principles.
  • Change Execution and Validation
    • Follow all sequencing and procedural controls as documented to prevent service impact in shared fabrics.
    • Validate implemented changes thoroughly against design specifications, and escalate inconsistencies rather than deviating from documentation.
    • Maintain unwavering adherence to enterprise change management and governance processes.
  • Operational Governance and Compliance
    • Operate exclusively within approved ACI patterns and enterprise standards, never implementing unsupported constructs or undocumented changes.
    • Demonstrate repeatable, compliant, and fully auditable delivery execution within large-scale data center environments.

Essential Skills, Experience

  • 3–7+ years of experience in data center networking environments.
  • Direct, hands-on experience deploying and operating Cisco ACI fabrics within enterprise environments.
  • In-depth understanding of core ACI constructs, including Tenants, VRFs, Bridge Domains, Endpoint Groups (EPGs), and Layer 3 Out (L3Out) configurations.
  • Proven experience integrating ACI with enterprise routing infrastructures, including MPLS and core WAN connectivity.
  • Proficiency with Terraform and demonstrated comfort operating under infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
  • Experience working in controlled, shared, and highly governed fabric environments, maintaining a strong compliance orientation.
  • Exceptional documentation discipline with consistent adherence to change management and operational processes.

Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting large enterprise or regulated environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with automation-first delivery models and CI/CD-based infrastructure workflows is a plus.
  • Relevant Cisco data center certifications (e.g., CCNP Data Center, CCIE Data Center) are highly desirable.
