Position Title:     Technical Project Manager – Software

Location Information  

Hybrid – Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX
Onsite required Tuesdays and Wednesdays
Contract role with possibility of extension or conversion

Position Responsibilities:

As a Technical Project Manager – Software, you will play a vital role in guiding end-to-end project delivery for technology-driven, cross-functional initiatives. Bringing balance between strong project management discipline and adaptability in a dynamic business environment, you will lead teams and work streams for process, organizational, and technology projects. Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.

 

  • Lead one or more concurrent technology-focused projects or major workstreams within an event or program portfolio.
  • Own the full project lifecycle from kickoff and planning, through execution, monitoring, and successful closure.
  • Develop and maintain detailed work plans, project timelines, schedules, resource allocations, and logistics.
  • Collaborate with internal business partners, functional leaders, technology teams, event operations, and external vendors to drive project objectives.
  • Manage resource coordination for both event-based and digital initiatives.
  • Guide project teams through phases including planning, execution, testing, and delivery.
  • Monitor and track project status, milestones, budgets, risks, dependencies, and change requests using collaborative project management tools (e.g., Workfront, Smartsheet, Azure DevOps).
  • Identify, document, and mitigate project risks and issues; escalate critical blockers as appropriate.
  • Ensure proactive, transparent, and organized communication with all project stakeholders, providing regular updates.
  • Produce and maintain thorough post-project documentation including requirements, meeting summaries, decision logs, status reports, and closure deliverables.
  • Facilitate meetings, reviews, retrospectives, and lessons-learned sessions with business partners and project teams.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, ongoing improvement, and operational excellence within the project management team.
  • Analyze project outcomes to identify areas for process enhancement and lead the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with project management best practices, industry trends, and new technologies; share knowledge and best practices with team members.
  • Contribute to the evolution of PMO standards, templates, and processes, fostering a strong project management community.

Essential Skills, Experience

 

  • Proven experience managing full lifecycle software, digital, or technology-focused projects in a cross-functional corporate environment.
  • Strong familiarity with project management frameworks, best practices, and current methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid).
  • Hands-on experience utilizing project management and collaboration tools such as Workfront, Smartsheet, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills; able to direct, motivate, and develop cross-functional project teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively to various audiences (from technical teams to executive leadership).
  • Ability to proactively identify project risks, manage mitigation plans, and resolve conflicts or delays.
  • Superb organizational skills with keen attention to detail, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience managing relationships with vendors and third-party partners to achieve project deliverables.
  • Commitment to fostering team collaboration, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
  • Passion for driving positive business outcomes through innovation and process improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field required (Master’s preferred).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or equivalent certifications strongly desired.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a project management role with a focus on software or digital technology projects.
