Position Title:     Project Manager – Healthcare IT (Sunrise Platform)

Location Information  Remote (Limited Travel Required)

Contract Duration: 5 Months

Position Responsibilities:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with proven expertise in healthcare IT, specifically in large-scale EMR/EHR upgrade initiatives. In this role, you will oversee the full project lifecycle for the upgrade of Sunrise Clinical Manager platforms across several healthcare clients. Your focus will be on driving results, maintaining structure, and ensuring maximum value and quality to project delivery in a demanding and fast-paced environment.


  • Lead and manage multiple simultaneous Sunrise platform upgrade projects for up to three healthcare clients at one time.
  • Coordinate and oversee various system environments including development, testing, production, and training.
  • Facilitate collaboration with clinical implementation consultants, internal project management teams, and external client stakeholders to achieve all milestones and project objectives.
  • Leverage Smartsheet as the primary project management and planning platform, ensuring up-to-date and accurate project documentation and communication.
  • Adhere strictly to waterfall project management methodology, maintaining discipline around timeline, deliverable tracking, and dependency management.
  • Maintain a continuous attention to detail when managing timelines, deliverables, resource allocation, and risk factors.
  • Proactively identify, escalate, and manage project issues and risks, while providing clear, transparent, and consistent project status reporting.
  • Promote strong engagement within the project team and stakeholders, fostering a mission-driven and inclusive project culture.
  • Adapt project support for clients across various U.S. time zones as needed.
  • Travel as necessary for on-site activation events and command center activities (advance notice will be given; remote work is the standard outside of these events).

 

Essential Skills, Experience


  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience, ideally within healthcare IT, clinical environments, or large-scale IT implementations.
  • Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems upgrades; direct experience managing system upgrade projects from planning through activation required.
  • Advanced proficiency with Smartsheet for project planning and execution, including schedule building, dependency mapping, and reporting.
  • History of success delivering complex, multi-stakeholder technology projects on tight timelines.
  • Strong capability with waterfall project management methodologies (PMO-compliant practices).
  • Exceptionally strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate complex information transparently and persuasively to team members and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Calm and effective under pressure, with a high level of emotional intelligence, professionalism, and a results-driven approach to overcoming challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, Project Management, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Experience with the Sunrise Clinical Manager platform is highly desirable but not required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or other formal project management credential is a plus.
  • Prior experience leading healthcare IT upgrade cycles under waterfall methodologies preferred.
  • Must be up to date on all vaccinations and willing to provide supporting records as required.
  • Willing to receive a flu shot in the fall if required by project/client.
  • No extended time off permitted during the contract term without advanced notice; short, planned time off is acceptable.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
