Position Title:     Technical Writer

Location Information  

Remote – 6 to 12+ Month Contract

Position Responsibilities:

As a Technical Writer supporting a compliance remediation project, you will play a crucial role in developing and standardizing technical documentation for internal auditors and regulatory requirements. Your main responsibilities will involve collaborating directly with technical teams, including network, infrastructure, and engineering groups, to gather, organize, and transform complex technical information into clear and comprehensive documentation and diagrams.

Key duties include:

• Work closely with technical and infrastructure teams to identify documentation needs, gather requirements, and update or remediate existing materials.
• Develop and standardize clear, auditable documentation to address compliance gaps, focusing on PCI and SOX standards.
• Create and update technical diagrams using industry-standard tools, ensuring accuracy and clarity of network architectures and technical flows.
• Translate detailed technical information into easily understandable documentation for both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including auditors.
• Facilitate and document discussions, especially in collaborative environments such as screen-shared meetings where live input is incorporated into diagrams and documents.
• Manage and organize documentation using tools and platforms specified by the technical environment (Lucid, Confluence, Google Workspace).
• Ensure consistent documentation standards across teams and maintain up-to-date records to support ongoing and future audits.
• Liaise between departments to collect information, clarify processes, and align documentation efforts across multiple teams.

Essential Skills, Experience

• Proven experience as a technical writer with a focus on IT infrastructure, network environments, and compliance documentation.
• Exceptional ability to create technical diagrams and flow charts; proficiency with Lucid and Confluence is required (no Microsoft products).
• Familiarity with Google Workspace tools and environment (Gmail, Google Meet, Google Docs, and related apps).
• Experience writing for compliance-related audiences, particularly auditors, with demonstrable understanding of GRC (governance, risk, and compliance) frameworks.
• Solid understanding of network concepts, including IP addressing, and the ability to interface confidently with technical infrastructure teams.
• Experience in standardizing documentation practices and updating legacy or inconsistent materials for compliance review.
• Ability to facilitate meetings and working sessions, present diagrams and documentation live, and incorporate team feedback in real time.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and translating technical jargon into accessible documentation.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote work environment.
• Knowledge of PCI and SOX compliance documentation is strongly preferred.
• Skilled in facilitating collaboration across teams, departments, and with external auditors.
