Position Title:   IT Support Engineer – Contract Manufacturing

Location Information

Hybrid – Santa Clara, CA

Position Responsibilities:

We are seeking a technically skilled and organized IT Support Engineer to support robust semiconductor manufacturing operations across the Americas. This hybrid role requires you to be both a hands-on technical lead and a coordinator—overseeing the work of third-party IT service providers, while acting as a key liaison with global IT teams that manage infrastructure, applications, and factory platforms.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring a secure, stable, and highly available IT environment for 24/7 factory operations. If you thrive in fast-paced production environments and enjoy a blend of problem-solving, collaboration, and technical troubleshooting, this opportunity offers an exciting and impactful fit.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing on-site and remote support for manufacturing systems, including network connectivity, servers, client endpoints, and production tools.
  • Overseeing and guiding the work of third-party IT support personnel to ensure service quality, compliance with IT policies, and adherence to factory safety standards.
  • Serving as the primary local IT contact for factory users and stakeholders, facilitating communications between factory staff and remote/global IT teams across network, storage, and application domains.
  • Coordinating closely with global teams to support and maintain MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), ERP, and other factory-critical applications.
  • Troubleshooting basic network connectivity issues (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing), escalating to network specialists when needed.
  • Providing system administration for Windows and Linux/Unix servers—including security hardening, patching, endpoint protection, and general stability and performance monitoring.
  • Supporting user provisioning, hardware and software deployment, system monitoring, patch management, and incident response for seamless day-to-day IT operations.
  • Ensuring IT asset management, accurate documentation, and readiness for IT-related audits at the local factory site.
  • Participating in and supporting cybersecurity and compliance initiatives—including vulnerability management, endpoint protection, and policy enforcement.
  • Contributing to system documentation, knowledge base updates, and continuous improvement of support processes.

Essential Skills, Experience

  • Proven experience (3–5 years) in IT support or system administration, ideally within a manufacturing or high-tech production environment.
  • Technical proficiency in supporting and administering both Windows and Linux/Unix systems (including installation, scripting, troubleshooting, patching, and performance tuning).
  • Strong understanding of core networking concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching.
  • Hands-on experience with endpoint security tools, patch management solutions, and best practices for security hardening.
  • Track record of effectively supporting or managing third-party service providers, with a customer-centric and proactive approach.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of technical issues spanning hardware, software, LAN, and factory platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written); Spanish language skills are a plus.
  • Experience with ITSM/ticketing platforms (like ServiceNow), remote support technologies, and systematic documentation processes.
  • Familiarity with factory system environments such as MES, ERP, or production data systems is highly desirable.
  • Proven organizational, coordination, and time-management skills—capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, both remotely and on-site, with a sense of ownership and urgency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field—or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant IT support or systems administration experience.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or high-availability production environment is preferred.
  • Additional certifications in networking, security, or system administration (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, Linux) are a plus.
