Position Title: Lead Azure Cloud Engineer
Location: Remote (preferably local to DFW)
Position Responsibilities:
As a Lead Azure Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for managing cloud resources and overseeing enterprise deployments in Microsoft Azure, playing a player coach role. You will be part of the Cloud Operations team and collaborate with DevOps engineers, application developers, and support personnel to optimize the use of CI/CD pipelines and application lifecycle management processes. Additionally, you will:
- Act as a senior/lead engineer, ensuring effective planning, delivery, support, and security of services in the company's Azure Cloud Platform.
- Configure monitoring and alerting services to ensure system performance, security, reliability, and scalability across all environments.
- Coordinate tasks, provide guidance to other engineering resources, and ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, and support teams to design and implement solutions aligned with best practices and cloud architecture frameworks.
- Provide technical expertise and advice to teammates and stakeholders, staying updated with industry trends and technologies.
- Ensure security and compliance best practices are followed, working closely with Freeman's managed services provider to address issues and findings.
- Maintain documentation for solution designs, patterns, and project support.
- Manage resources optimally, perform health checks, and suggest improvements to enhance system efficiency and performance.
Essential Skills & Expertise:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science (preferred), Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of experience in IT operations, software development, cloud computing, and DevOps practices, preferably within a large company or enterprise-level.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure Cloud, including networking, AKS, ADF, APIM, Event Hubs, Synapse, Azure SQL, ADO Pipelines, and application gateways.
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Proficient in automation with PowerShell or Logic Apps.
- Solid understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform.
- Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) preferred.
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, AppDynamics).
- Experience with Agile framework and task management with Azure DevOps.
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and technical writing/documentation skills.
- Collaborative/team-oriented work approach.
